What do I need to know about using a Fitbit with CARROT?

A: Here is "Everything You Need to Know" about using Fitbit with the CARROT Wellness app.
To link your Fitbit, tap on the top-left CARROT menu button, go to “Settings” and tap on the “Link Fitbit” button. You will then need to log into your Fitbit account (be sure you have your Fitbit login info handy). After linking your Fitbit, CARROT will automatically accept the steps data from the device that has the greatest number of steps each day (either your phone or Fitbit).
IMPORTANT:  For CARROT to get your most up-to-date steps data from Fitbit, you must sync your Fitbit app with your Fitbit device BEFORE opening CARROT. (Otherwise, CARROT will not receive your most current data.) The quality of your phone’s data connection will impact how quickly your Fitbit data will be displayed on CARROT.
If you have followed these steps and CARROT is not receiving Fitbit data (or if the data does not appear to be accurate), here is info that should help.
ALLOW STEPS SHARING (for iPhone users)
Even if you are using a Fitbit as your primary source of steps data, iPhone users still must allow Apple Health to share steps data with CARROT. Apple Health is where CARROT receives your Fitbit and phone data.
To be sure you are sharing activity data, open your Apple Health app, tap on "Sources" from the bottom menu, and allow Health to share steps data with CARROT by toggling on BOTH steps switches (allowing CARROT to “Write” as well as “Read” data.)
Then return to CARROT and pull down firmly on the activity screen to refresh.
POOR DATA CONNECTION
There can sometimes be a delay of syncing Fitbit steps data depending on the reliability of your data connection (certain WiFi’s are less reliable than others). To address this, we recommend that you close CARROT, temporarily turn off WiFi, then re-open CARROT using your data plan.  If the issue was related to the quality of your data connection, this should resolve it.
PERMISSIONS NEED UPDATING
At least once per month, Fitbit requires that you allow permission for apps (such as CARROT) to continue using Fitbit data. If you did not receive or see Fitbit’s permission notification, the connection between Fitbit and CARROT may be temporarily severed. If you follow these steps, the apps should be properly reconnected:
1) On the CARROT “Settings” screen, tap the “Unlink Fitbit” button and confirm unlink.
2) Close the CARROT app.
3) Go to Fitbit.com and log in to your account.
4) Go to “Settings” and tap on the “Applications” menu item.
5) Under “Applications” you should see a listing for “Carrot Pass”; Tap on the “Revoke Access” button, then log out of Fitbit.
6) Open CARROT, return to “Settings”, and tap on the “Link Fitbit” button. You will then be prompted to log in to your Fitbit account (please do so), and then tap the “Allow” button to give CARROT the ability to access your activity and exercise data. Then “Open in CARROT” to return to the CARROT Settings screen.
NOT CONNECTED TO CORRECT FITBIT ACCOUNT
To make sure the data Fitbit is sharing with CARROT is accurate, you should be certain that your Fitbit app and your Fitbit.com account are associated with the same email address -- in other words, you need to make sure you have just one Fitbit account. (Several users have accidentally created two different Fitbit accounts, and so the Fitbit steps data shared with CARROT is not accurate.)
When you first linked your Fitbit to CARROT, you were required to log into your Fitbit.com account to give CARROT permission to get your steps data stored in the Fitbit cloud. Please be sure that the email address associated with your Fitbit app is the SAME ONE you use to sign into Fitbit.com. This would be the same email where Fitbit emails your weekly updates and any other correspondence. (If you log out of your Fitbit app, you'll be presented with the opportunity to sign back in using your email – please be sure it is the same email address you use to sign in to Fitbit.com.) If this email address is different from the one you use to sign into Fitbit.com, you’ve identified the problem. You'll need to sign into Fitbit.com with the same email address you use to sign into your app.
MORE HELPFUL INFO
If it has been a few days since you last synced your Fitbit, don’t worry – you have seven days to share your Fitbit data with CARROT. Each time you sync Fitbit and then open and refresh CARROT, CARROT will look at the last seven days of Fitbit data to be sure you've been given credit for everything you've earned.
Also keep in mind that CARROT will not accept manual data entries from any source, including Fitbit – this is necessary to keep people from "gaming" the system. So if it's ever necessary to manually update any steps (perhaps while the tracker was charging, etc.), CARROT will disregard those data entries.

If you need additional assistance, please contact us at support@carrotwellness.com. It would be helpful if you could include your CARROT Account ID Number (you’ll find it by tapping the menu button in the top-left corner) as well as the login method you used (Facebook ID or phone number) to set up your CARROT account.
