What are CARROT Auctions? How do Auctions work?

CARROT Auctions are real-time contests that allow you to bid on prizes (primarily digital gift cards) with the virtual currencies you've earned for walking and achieving your daily goals. There is a "countdown clock" listed on each upcoming auction prize, so by going to the "Action" tab on CARROT, you can find out exactly when the next auction will begin.

Once an auction is "live", participants will have up to 60 seconds to place a bid, and each time a new bid is placed, the 60-second clock restarts. When you bid on an item, the currency you've bid will be temporarily frozen in your account until/unless you are outbid. Much like a real auction, you will not lose any of the currency you've bid UNLESS you win the auction prize (when you win, the currency is automatically deducted from your CARROT account). All winning prizes will be distributed within 48 hours of the auction (although many are sent within hours of the completed auction).
